LeBrooklyn?

Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo Sports wrote a fascinating article today that discusses the very real possibility that LeBron James could sign with the Brooklyn Nets in 2 years.

My personal opinion is that the Global Icon’s departure to the bright lights of New York is only a matter of time.

Here is a link to the article: Jay-Z’s relationship with James should worry Cavs

One thing the article didn’t mention that I believe needs mentioning is the financial resources the Nets could have in Brooklyn.

The New York Knicks are the laughing stock of the NBA. Despite that, they have an NBA best $608 million dollar value. The salary cap this season is $57,855,200. The Knicks payroll - $89,644,470. Meaning they will pay a dollar for dollar luxury tax on the $31,789,270 amount they are over the cap.

Why can Dolan afford to go so far over the cap?

Because the Knicks play in the league’s largest market. New York brought in $196 million in total revenue last year. $26 million more than the # 2 valued Los Angeles Lakers.

We’ve all seen what the King has accomplished with a very average supporting cast.

Imagine the talent the Nets could afford to surround him with when the King came to town and took over New York basketball as we know it.

The possibilities are endless…
