Sheriff cites language as reason for wanting Shaq’s badges back

From the Associated Press via ESPN:

Shaquille O’Neal will lose his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in January and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse earlier this month.

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.” [Read]

I hear Shaq’s claims, and I believe them, but then again, he should know by now that there pretty much is no such thing as an innocent remark by celebrities.

A little consequences for his action is a good thing.

If you are versed in the antics of the infamous Sheriff Arpaio, you may find that he and Shaq aren’t that much different…good, bad, or ugly.

Sheriff Joe is a piece of shit who has done much worse than anything Shaq can even begin to think about.

    Bytemoi & A-Train,

I’ve read a few things about Sheriff Arpaio. He’s a controversial character.

A-Train – if a Sheriff that presided over you neck of the woods was filmed doing something of this nature, what would your reaction be? Do you think they would deserve to be fired?
