Hey Tom,

I'm not a big fan of Kriegel's writing. But I do enjoy Kahn and Rosen's work.

Aside from KG and Duncan, we're being represented by the best our country has to offer this year. Anything but the gold medal would be a monumental disappointment.

Mark Kriegel is a moron. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't know how guys like this get gigs writing basketball, but it isn't because they earned it.

What kind of ARROGANCE and STUPIDITY makes a person say he knows what players want more than the players do?

The fact that they are playing in the summer, instead of resting for their next run at a championship ought to be enough evidence for any intelligent person to believe these guys prioritize their country's success above their own.

The Gold Medal game this year will likely feature the United States, and Spain.

When Team Argentina won the gold, it saw its key players get NBA gigs and do well. If Team Spain does well, the NBA will probably know more than just the Gasol brothers.

It takes less than a generation for a country's young athletic boys to take to the game and grow into competition, and what inspires that is FIBA basketball. In about 8 to 10 years, we'll probably see Steve Nash inspired kids come along.

If the USA doesn't win gold, they'll likely make the job harder for coming generations.
