I always thought Rodman had a crazy good vertical, something close to 35″, how else would he have been such a rebounding monster ?

I agree that Rodman was a good athlete, sure he didn’t have the vertical jump of Jordan but he still had some great achievements.

Rodman wasn’t a one trick pony. He was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time rebounding champion. At the very least, he was a two trick pony. Lol.

I can’t prove this, but I watched a Q&A with Ron Harper on NBATV once, and Harper said that Dennis Rodman could shoot the basketball. The Bulls always encouraged him to shoot the ball. People remember Rodman’s antics at the free throw line. But that was mental. Rodman actually led the league in field goal percentage in 1989.

Phil Jackson is not overrated. I’ll concede that he was outcoached in the Finals. But the man doesn’t have 9 rings by accident. Yes, he’s had talent. But he’s a good coach…by any measure.

He was the best rebounder I ever saw, but he was a one-trick pony. I can’t in good faith put him above those other guys knowing other teams didn’t even guard him on offense.

Hoff, I think you put too much stock into what Phil Jackson says. He’s got 9 rings, but how many of those are without Michael or Shaq? Both players were men above boys when those rings were won. I’m about to say it…..Phil Jackson….OVERRATED!
