Ballin’: The Memorial Day Miracle

» September 5, 2008 10:38 AM | By Brandon Hoffman

The San Antonio Spurs trailed by as many as 18 points in Game 2 of their Western Conference Final matchup with the Portland Trailblazers.  But with the Blazers up by two with twelve seconds remaining, Sean Elliot took an inbounds pass and almost fell out of bounds before launching a game winning three-pointer.  Elliot’s clutch three-ball gave the Spurs a 2-0 series, helping San Antonio advance to the 1999 NBA Finals where the Spurs captured their first NBA championship in franchise history.
