Hall of Famer Dick Vitale

I’m not a big fan of the college game.  And to be honest, I’m not a fan of Dick Vitale’s shtick either.  I’ve openly questioned his induction into the Hall of Fame from the moment he was nominated.  Mainly because I believe Tex Winter — the architect of the triangle offense — an offense that has won a total of nine NBA championships — deserves induction as a “contributor” before Vitale.  I don’t doubt that Vitale has made a significant contribution to the game of basketball, I just think there are people more deserving.  But any misgivings that I had about Vitale were erased as I watched him give his induction speech.  The guy lives and breathes basketball, and that passion that has been instrumental in spreading the collegiate game’s popularity was on full display Friday night.

Lol. My thoughts and opinions of Vitale weren’t erased. I’m never going to be a fan of his announcing. But his speech was inspirational. And the passion he displayed is proof of his hall of fame contribution to the game.
