FYI: I agree with everything else you said.

I don't think PJ will be missed because of guys like Powe and, to a lesser extent, Big Baby.

Ultimately, it's KG whom I credit with getting this team to up its defensive intensity. PJ or not, Posey or not, I think their replacement players will bring the same fire.

xphoenix87,

I think you're vastly underrating Brown's importance to Boston's title run. The Celtics wouldn't have defeated the Lakers or Cavs without Brown and Posey.

Boston may make up for their production in the regular season, but there's no guarantee that the C's will have guys step up in big moments like Brown and Posey did.

The Lakers had the best bench in the NBA last season, and they went MIA in the Finals.

I'm a Tony Allen fan from his days at Ok. State. He can ball, Phoenix--don't get it twisted. He's better than Posey. Posey is just effective because he's physically huge and can defend. Allen can break down guys off the dribble, shoot, drive, defend point guards, etc. So, to compare them is a bit unfair. One just had the year of his life, and the other is still mending his way back from knee surgery. Expect a big year from Allen. He can play.

I don't think they'll miss P.J. Brown all that much. The improvement of Leon Powe and Glen Davis should help to offset his absence. Posey will be the tough one to replace, because they don't really have anyone to plug in for him unless Walker or Giddens are much better than expected. I'm not real high on Allen, I just don't see him bringing nearly what Posey brought to the table.

PJ Brown and Sam Cassell were HUGE in games 1 and 7 over Cleveland - two games the Cavs could have prevailed.

Cassell went 4-8 and hit a couple of those end of the shot clock bail out 3s in game 1 (in the fourth) - and PJ Brown went 4-4 and hit key jumpers at the end of game 7. He hit an end of the shot clock 15 footer to seal the game. That was right after he collected a Rajon Rondo airball and layed it in after 20 seconds of solid Cavs defense.

Having solid contributions from veteran guys like that really helps when games are SLOWED down. Guys like Rondo excel when the game speeds up (see Finals). But in those slow defensive minded games, the Poseys, PJ Browns and Cassells of the world can be huge.
