On April 20th, 1994, Shaquille O’Neal scored a then Orlando Magic record 53 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves. O’Neal shot 22-of-31 from the field, 9-of-13 from the free throw line, grabbed 18 rebounds, handed out 4 assists, and blocked 2 shots in only 36 minutes of action. O’Neal’s 53 point outburst in Orlando’s third to last game of the season was enough to overtake David Robinson for the scoring lead, but Robinson responded with 71 points four days later to edge O’Neal for the scoring title.
