From Marc Berman of the New York Post:

Stephon Marbury and the New York KnicksĀ  moved a step closer to divorce tonight when Mike D’Antoni announced the Knicks fallen point guard would be on the inactive list for the foreseeable future.

Marbury and D’Antoni met in the lobby of the team hotel here for 10 minutes when the Knicks coach informed him before the game against the Sixers.

Marbury told reporters it was the “coach’s decision and I’m fine with it.”

If the Knicks release Marbury, there will be interest from several teams with holes at the point guard position. Denver, Miami, and Golden State are the most logical suitors. Of those teams, Golden State may be Marbury’s best option. Don Nelson’s run n’ gun offense did wonders for Baron Davis’ career and affords the freedom to showcase Marbury’s skills.
