You're right, their depth is questionable.

Mo Evans is solid. But I have my doubts with regards to Murray and Law's consistency.

The Hawks are a very young team. It's going to be interesting to see how they handle adversity this season. That loss to Boston really took the wind out of their sails.

I'm a believer, but their depth is an issue. Watching them struggle against the Wizards at home (where they lost defensive focus) showed that they have some work to do. Caron Butler went off, and they weren't in his face. Losing Josh Smith early will help with that due to more pt for the reserves. They might win 50...

Shooter,

I don't think Bibby is an elite PG either. But he's definitely had a calming effect on the Hawks. They have more balance with him controlling the tempo and distributing the ball.

It's still early, but all signs point to Eastern Conference contention this season, which is great because the East is getting stronger.

I'm still slightly skeptical about Mike Bibby being amongst the elite point guards, but he is definitely a positive influence on this team. They've been hoarding a good collection of draft talent the past couple of years, it may be their time to blossom.

Can't say enough about their performance in last year's playoffs. It probably wasn't a fluke.

Mike Woodson deserves a lot of credit for bringing this group together.

D,

Thanks.

There are a lot of variables. And you're right, it will be interesting to see how Atlanta handles adversity. They're a very young team, I hope they don't let their early season success get to their heads.

Great breakdown of the Hawks. I think the biggest surprise was how they didn't lose too much when Josh Smith went down. Horford stepped it up right away with 6 blocks on the first night.

The thing i worry about most with the Hawks is their attitude. If they lose a few games in a row, all of a sudden it's going to be Mike Woodson in danger of losing his job because of Josh Smith sulking around. I'll never forget Celtics/Hawks game 7, when Josh Smith wasn't having his way early in the game, he gave up. He's the motor for that team (since Joe Johnson isn't much of a leader. He's great, but not very vocal). So when Josh isn't feeling it, the team follows.

Another big surprise is the bench thus far! The loss of Childress was supposed to mean horrible things for the Hawks. Good to see it hasn't been too rough.
