Jennings vs. Rubio Update

Brandon Jennings and Ricky Rubio are slated to match up with one another for the first time tomorrow.

Jennings:

This Thursday, we play against Ricky Rubio’s squad in the Euro League, Spain. This is gonna be a lot of fun. A lot of people have mentioned this game to me…I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing a tough squad and a high-profile talent like Ricky. Right now we are 1st in the Euro League and Ricky’s team is 3rd. I know they are going to come out hard especially since we are playing in their gym and they are extra hungry for a W. I know if we execute everything our Coaching Staff has been preparing us for we will be okay. We need to stay focused, take care of the ball and execute the game plan.

Ian Thomsen of CNNSI.com spoke to a scout last month who insisted there will be more NBA scouts attending tomorrow’s game “than there will be at the Carolina-Duke game.”

I contacted Christophe Ney of Ball in Europe this morning to inquire about viewing options. Ney directed me to the Euroleague website which indicates the game (DKV Joventut vs. Lottomatica Roma) is going to be televised live on NBATV. But upon further research, I discovered that’s not the case. The game won’t be televised on NBATV until this Saturday at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

If you want to watch the game live, you can purchase a live stream at the EuroleagueTV website.

Just to note, Rubio is just recently getting back from a wrist injury, so he may play sparingly. Don’t get your hopes up too much for the matchup, since it’s unlikely either player will get more than 15-20 minutes of play.

I think I’ll wait until Saturday. I’m not expecting an epic showdown like Magic vs. Bird in the NCAA championship game, but I think it will be entertaining to watch them square up for the first time.
