The Christmas day rematch of last year’s NBA Finals, in which the Lakers broke the Celtics’ 19-game win streak yesterday, earned a 5.3 household rating on a fast-national basis, the highest-rated regular season NBA game in four years, on ABC. Boston was the top market with a 12.2 rating while Los Angeles was 11.8. The rating was 51 percent higher than last year’s late Christmas game on ABC, Suns vs. Lakers (3.5), and delivered a 65 percent larger audience (9,960,378 viewers vs. 5,984,539).
