In a far reaching interview with Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press, Iverson calls his lone season in Detroit the “most miserable of his career,” and touches on his future plans (A.I.’s name has popped up in rumors involving the Bobcats, Bulls, Heat, and Grizzlies):
Wherever he lands, Iverson may have to accept a reduced role. He chafed at that prospect with the Pistons, and Thursday night he was repeating his thoughts he echoed several times during the season.
He hesitated when asked about coming off the bench. Finally, he said: “I don’t know. I think I would retire.”
In the meantime, he said he was letting agent Leon Rose field all the inquiries. He said he planned to leave the Detroit area in a couple of weeks.
That’s probably not too soon for some Pistons fans. But as Iverson has said before, he’s used to being the bad guy. He still has a sense of humor about it. He laughed throughout the conversation and had a greeting for every patron who stopped to say hello.
“I just want to go somewhere,” Iverson said, “I can be happy to go to practice every day.”

In light of Iverson wanting to play for the Grizzlies. Does that finally mean that this team’ll be a force to be reckoned with ? Much like France was during the Second World War ?

I don’t think Iverson would fit in with the Grizzlies. Memphis appears to be committed to Conley and Mayo. Iverson’s presence would only stunt their growth.
I’d like to see Iverson reunited with Larry Brown in Charlotte.

I think that for a number of teams around the NBA . Their thought as far as Iverson goes is …’ anywhere but here !” I mean what has he really now got to offer a team ? Leadership if that ? It’s not as if physically he can play an entire NBA schedule now is it ? His best days are behind him and not ahead of him . And I think that he ought to now realize that.
As for him being on that Bobcats’ team. Well the proof’ll be in the eating of the pudding.
