Lakers owner Jerry Buss’ affinity for high-stakes poker is well-documented. In fact, Buss once confessed that his teenage “amibition was to be a gambler” in a 1979 issue of Sports Illustrated. Well, it looks like he might have a little intra-franchise competition. The Orange County Register’s Janis Carr writes that Farmar survived Day 1 at the WSOP, eclipsing 100,000 in chips at one point and finishing in ninth place.

Jordan Farmar has one of my all-time favorite quotes. I cut it out from the USA Today where I found it and the clipping is still on my fridge.
“When I go to the black neighborhoods, people relate to me, and when I go to the Jewish neighborhood, they relate to me, too.
Jordan Farmar is the NBA’s only Jewish player.

Cool quote. I had a chance to talk with Jordan last season, and he seems like a good dude.
I like his game. But he’s going to have to prove that he’s good enough to be the Lakers’ future at the point guard position. He was really up-and-down last year.
