The celebrity gossip website will premiere the camera phone footage tonight at 6:45 PM EST. I’m amazed at the amount of traction this story has garnered over the past few weeks. CNBC’s Darren Rovell spoke with Ryan Miller, who videotaped the dunk and had his tape confiscated:
Miller says the that the freeze frame posted on TMZ’s Web site suggests that there was a third cameraman who was shooting from the track that circles above the basketball court at the University of Akron’s Rhodes Arena, where the event took place.
Miller said the TMZ pic is fuzzy, as if it was taken by a cell phone camera, but he says this could very well be the dunk.
Last week, online betting firm BetUS offered $50,000 for the tape.
As for what people can expect tonight, assuming the dunk is the real deal, Miller said it’s hard to live up to the hype. “It was a good dunk,” Miller said. “But it’s hard to match expectations after this much publicity.”

UPDATE: TMZ has posted the video.
UPDATE: A site called eBaum Nation has a much clearer video of the dunk. (Via InsideHoops)

James and Nike definitely contributed to the hype by confiscating the credentialed media members’ videos.
